Two trains collided head-on in Bangladesh's capital Dhaka on Monday afternoon, leaving several people injured, officials said.

A train going from Dhaka to northern Mymensingh district collided with another train from southeastern port city Chittagongat around 3 p.m. local time on Monday, Security Officer of Bangladesh Railway Iqbal Hossain said.

He said the accident occurred when one train was pulling out and the other was pulling in the capital's central railway station Kamlapur Station.

Local TV channel ETV reported at least two people died in the accident. But Hossain said there was no report of deaths so far." Only two security personnel were critically injured," he said.

However, Director General of the state-own Bangladesh Railway Belayet Hossain said, "Four to five people were injured and they have been rushed to hospital. Conditions of some injured people were stated to be critical."

The reason of the accident is unknown yet.

Iqbal Hossain said a probe committee has been formed to investigate the accident.
