India's extreme left-wing rebels struck again mid-night Monday by blasting a cellphone tower and a community center in the eastern Indian state of Bihar, said police on Tuesday.
This was apparently a protest against police advances in the restive Lalgarh district in West Bengal during their 48-hour strike, said a senior police official.
The act came a day after the Indian government banned the Communist Party of India-Maoist as a "terrorist organization".
No one was killed or injured in the twin blasts, said police, adding that the cellphone tower of a private telecom operator and a nearby community center in Gaya district in Bihar were badly damaged.
The extreme left-wing rebels, also known as Naxals, have been intensifying attacks against police and security personnel recently, killing at least 180 police and security personnel over the past one month.
