Hayono Isman, the cadre of Indonesia's Democratic Party, the winning party in the legislative elections in April 9, said on Tuesday that he had strong opportunity to lead parliament.
"According to the parliament meeting in February 2009, the chairman of the parliament should come from the winning party," he said.
However, he added that the luck could be change when the parliament sits in a meeting in July 22 because there is a probability that the rule could be shifted.
"In politic, anything could happen. We should face it in smart and patient way," he said.
Hayono proposed parliament to adopt proportional system, instead of package system, to avoid resistance from failed packages in determining leaders in the body.
"I think the best option is proportional system, so parties could put their cadres in leadership," he said.
Package system allows several parties to submit their cadres for a chairman and three vice chairmen positions. Meanwhile, the proportional system determines the packages based on the party size, so all parties that put significant cadres in parliament have chance to join in leading the body.
