In the fresh spate of violence, one person was killed and six others were injured on Tuesday when police fired bullets and teargas shells to disperse the protesters demonstrating against the killing of two young protesters in Baramulla town of India-controlled Kashmir, officials and witnesses said.
The deceased youth has been identified as 26-year-old Fayaz Ahmad Gojri.
The incident took place in the evening when police fired bullets to quell the protesters around 19:30 local time. Authorities had imposed a curfew in Baramulla town, 52 kilometers northwest of Srinagar, the region's summer capital after two young protesters were killed on Monday.
The demonstrators in the town broke out after a woman alleged sexual harassment at the hands of police official in the town.
Though police denied the charge, officials have ordered an inquiry into the allegation.
In the last two days three people were killed and 16 others sustained injuries in the protest demonstrations.
"The youth was killed while pelting stones on the policemen," said a police official.
Thousands of people including women and children have come out on roads in the evening in Baramulla town against the brute use of force on unarmed civilians and to participate in the funeral procession of Gojri.
Anti-India demonstrations are going on in the region since May 30 following the rape and murder of two women aged 17 and 22 yearsold in Shopian town, 50 kilometers south of Srinagar. Locals suspect the involvement of troopers in the rape and killing of theduo.
Protest demonstrations were held across other towns of the regions including Srinagar city as well.
