Thailand's Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva Tuesday sent a message to the Philippines' leader saying that Thailand is deeply saddened to the loss of life, missing people and casualties due to tropical storm "Ketsana."
From Monday, Philippine Defense Secretary and National Disaster Coordinating Council chairman Gilberto Teodoro appealed for international assistance in the wake of the tropical storm "Ketsana," which has left 140 deal till Monday night.
"On behalf of the government and people of Thailand, I wish to extend my heartfelt sympathy and condolences to you and to the bereaved families of the victims of this tragic disaster, and hope for the speedy recovery of the injured," Abhisit said in the message sent to the Philippines' President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
The Prime Minister also said, "I am confident that, under your strong leadership, the rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts will be carried out effectively."
In a related development, around 450 Thais living in the Philippines, including of about 100 students, employees of Thai firms and officials of the Thai Embassy, are safe amid the attack of the tropical storm "Ketsana," the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
