Thailand is going to dispatch a medical team and medical supplies to the Philippines, which has been hard hit by the tropical storm "Ketsana", killing at least 240 persons, according to local media on Tuesday.
The humanitarian assistance's plan will be approved by the government soon, said Rewat Visarutvej, director-general of Thailand's Department of Medical Sciences, Thai News Agency reported.
The humanitarian aid, which has been prepared by Thailand, wil lbe similar to that for Myanmar following the cyclone "Nargis" attack last year, he said.
In a related development, Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva was quoted by the website of The Nation as saying that he has already directed involved ministries to provide the humanitarian aid to the Philippines.
The humanitarian aid from Thailand will include rice and medical supplies, he said.
