Afghan National Security Forces on Wednesday rescued four health workers who were held hostage by a group of armed militants in Afghanistan's northern Sar-e-Pul province, provincial police chief said on Thursday.
"After searching an area in Kohistanat district, known to be used by a group of militants who believed to be responsible for kidnapping of health workers, hostages were released safely on Wednesday noon," Gen. Balal Niram told Xinhua.
He also said that a militant was killed in the operation while militants' group commander Allah Brut was detained with his AK-47 assault rifles.
