The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) is not worried about economic turbulence because its economy is based on science and technology, the official KCNA news cited the top leader Kim Jong Il as saying on Friday.

Kim made the remarks while inspecting a hydro-electric power station in North Phyongan province. He praised the power station for its use of modern technology and its solving of many technical problems through a mass technology updating campaign.

He urged the workers to properly maintain the equipment in order to secure its full-scale operation.

The report didn't disclose the date of the visit.
