An earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale occurred in Tonga at 7 p.m. Monday Hong Kong time (1100 GMT), according to a bulletin released by the Hong Kong Observatory.
The epicenter was initially determined to be at 24.1 degrees south latitude and 175.1 degrees west longitude, about 330 kilometers south of Nuku'alofa, Tonga.
