Afghan troops detain two suspected terrorists

Afghan troops detained two persons in Charchino district of the southern Uruzgan province on charge of involvement in subversive activities, a press release of the Defense Ministry said Monday.
"These two militants, involved in conducting terrorist activities, were arrested from Changlak village on Sunday," the press release added.
An assault rifle and a motorbike were also seized from their possession, it further said.
Both security forces and Taliban militants have intensified operations against each other in the militancy-plagued country.
Taliban fighters in the latest wave of violent attacks, targeted a police checkpoint in Arghandab district of Kandahar province, killing eight cops late Sunday night.
