The board of Thailand's Chamber of Commerce resolved Thursday to suggest Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva for not to attend its meeting to be hosted in a northern province of Chiang Mai.
The suggestion, which has been made by the board of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, is the result of security concerns for the prime minister and all other participants of the meeting, Thai News Agency reported.
Abhisit has planned to visit Chiang Mai from Nov. 27 to 29 to chair the meeting of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, which will be hosted there.
However, a huge number of the anti-government or red-shirted people in Chiang Mai and nearby provinces have vowed to protest in Chiang Mai against his visit.
The Thai Chamber of Commerce said it will later request an official appointment with the prime minister in a bid to report about the meeting's outcomes to him.
