Top DPRK leader inspects navy unit

Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) top leader Kim Jong Il highly praised the country's seamen while inspecting a navy unit, the official KCNA news agency reported on Friday.
Kim said the navy was of "important significance in the DPRK," and the seamen of the Korean People's Army had grown to be indomitable fighters "who enshrined the spirit of devotedly defending the leader, the spirit of readily becoming human bullets and bombs and the spirit of blasting oneself."
The report said Kim visited the Command of Korean People's Army Navy Combined Unit 587 without mentioning the specific date and location of the visit.
Kim expressed great satisfaction over the fact that "the unit had successfully trained all the commanding officers and soldiers to be a-match-for-a-hundred fighters possessed of high combat technique and capability," KCNA said.
The top DPRK leader highly appreciated the success made by the unit in the training this year.
The visit came after naval boats of the DPRK and South Korea exchanged fire off the west coast of the Korean Peninsula near the Northern Limit Line area earlier this month. No casualties were reported. The two sides blamed each other for the clash.
