2nd India-Africa Hydrocarbons Conference held in New Delhi

The second India-African Hydrocarbons Conference Started its two-day session on Monday in the Indian capital, said Indian government officials.

Indian Minister of External Affairs S.M. Krishna said at the opening of the conference that this is the "congregation of all verticals of the different strata of the intellectuals of the society" as well as a "right platform for all policy makers".

Apart from India, more than two dozen African countries are participating in the conference, after the first India-Africa Hydrocarbons Conference in November 2007 saw participation from 25 countries in Africa.

The conference would see interactions between Indian Oil and gas sector representatives and their African counterparts on how to facilitate hydrocarbons cooperations.

Over the last 15 years, India has emerged as a major refining hub and has turned into a net exporter of petroleum products, with an income of 26 billion U.S. dollars from export of petroleum products during 2008-2009 period.
