Fire engulfs Manila squatter homes

Fire broke out among plank board houses in a squatter community in the old district of Manila, capital of the Philippines, Thursday. There is no report of casualties yet.

Witnesses said the blaze started to spread at around 4:30 p.m. (0830 GMT) in a squatter community near the urban light rail station at Santa Cruz district. Thick black smoke can be spotted from afar. Firemen have arrived at the scene.
