India successfully test-fired a nuclear-capable missile Sunday that can hit targets across much of Asia and the Middle East.
As India's longest-range missile, the Agni III is capable of hitting a target 3,000 kilometers away, which puts China's major cities within range.
"The Agni III missile tested for the full range, hit the target with pinpoint accuracy and met all the mission objectives," according to Indian Defense Ministry spokesman Sitanshu Kar. The missile can carry conventional or nuclear payloads of 1.5 tones.
It was the fourth test of the Agni III missile. The first attempt in 2006 failed, but the last two tests were successful.
