2 people kidnapped offshore East Malaysia

Two staff workers on a seaborne farm were kidnapped early Monday in East Malaysia by unknown kidnappers, local police said on Monday.

The two, one manager aged 40 and one worker aged 25, overtaken by five people carrying parang knives, on the sea algae cultivation farm some eight nautical mile away from Semporna, east coastal town in the Sabah State, said Noor Rashid, police chief of the Sabah State.

The kidnappers reached the sea farm by boat and they also looted a huge sum of money from the farm, Noor told reporters in Kota Kinabalu, capital of the Sabah State.

The whereabouts of the two kidnapped were unknown, Noor said.
