1 killed, 2 wounded in Indian submarine fire

An Indian navy's sailor was killed and two others were wounded in a submarine fire broken out in an eastern port base of India on Friday, police said .

The fire occurred at a naval dockyard in the eastern Indian port of Visakhapatnam, claiming a 24-year-old sailor's life and making tow others suffered from burn injuries, said the local police.

This was the first fatal accident that caused casualties in the Indian navy's submarine fleet since the beginning of this year. The local police said it was still not clear how the fire occurred.

There are about 16 conventional submarines in the Indian navy.
