The United States President Barack Obama's visit to Indonesia scheduled in mid-March is expected to bring internationally positive impact to the country, a prominent political observer said on Thursday.
Eep Syaifulloh Fatah, the founder of Political Marketing Indonesia, an independent political observing body, and a political analyst from University of Indonesia, said that the visit would bring Indonesia to the world's spotlight, providing a good advertisement of what the country has been done in aspects of security, democracy and religious life.
"The visit that is scheduled in the next few days will internationally provide an extraordinary result for Indonesia," said Eep.
Indonesia, he said, has just managed to kill Dulmatin, one of the most dangerous terrorists in the world, posing Indonesia to the world's eye that the country is very serious in combating terrorism.
Besides, according to Eep, Indonesia could show the world of two important jobs it is working now, namely putting together Islam and democracy in the same place and combining democracy and prosperity.
"Foreign diplomats do not believe that Islam and democracy could stand side by side. This is a good opportunity for Indonesia to show it. Secondly, many people said that democracy will bring countries to poverty. This is an opportunity for Indonesia to fight against the theory," said Eep.
He said that Indonesia and India will show that they could spearhead steps in combating the theories.
