Two soldiers were injured when grenade exploded Monday in the 1st Infantry Regiment compound in Bangkok, Thai TV channel reported.
Thailand's Army spokesman Sansern Kaewkamnerd was quoted as saying that the compound was hit by four explosions at 1:30 p.m.
Both of the wounded soldiers were admitted to hospital, he said.
The grenade could be hurled from a car that was passing the First Infantry Regiment, according to a news report from the National News Bureau of Thailand (NNT).
So far no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
The explosions occurred when thousands of red-shirted protestors dispersed from the 11th Infantry Regiment compound in northern Bangkok where they pressed for the government to dissolve the parliament and call a new general election.
Veera Muskiapong, one of the red-shirt leaders, delivered an ultimatum on Sunday, giving the government until noon on Monday to dissolve the parliament or they will step up pressure.
Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva, in a live TV address Monday morning, refused to comply with the ultimatum.
