Sri Lankan police said on Tuesday that a Tamil Tiger rebel wanted for the suicide bombing of a 5- star-hotel in Colombo has been arrested.
The 72-year-old suspect was arrested in the eastern Batticaloa district's Eravur area for the 1997 bombing of the Hotel Galadari in the business district of Fort.
The October 1997 suicide bomb attack in the hotel's car park killed 18 people and injured over 100 including foreign tourists.
The suspect was a member of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) intelligence wing, police said.
Sri Lankan troops ended the LTTE' over three-decade-old campaign to set up a separate homeland for the minority Tamils in May last year.
