Premature vest explosion kills suicide bomber in S. Afghanistan

A would-be suicide bomber fell a prey to his explosive device in Taliban hotbed of Helmand province in southern Afghanistan on Wednesday.
"A terrorist wearing explosive-laden vest and wanted to target government interest was killed in Gereshk district today as his vest went off prematurely," provincial police chief Assadullah Shirzad told Xinhua.
This is the third suicide bomber killed in Helmand province in a single day on Wednesday.
Two would-be suicide bombers were gunned down by police in Helmand provincial capital Lashkar Gah this morning when they attempted to target a charity office.
Afghan and NATO-led forces launched a major joint operation against Taliban militants in Marja district of Helmand province on February 13.
