Afghan forces pursuing Taliban militants discovered a huge weapon cache in western Herat province, a press release of the Defense Ministry said Thursday.
"The commando unit raided Zirkoh village of Shindand district Wednesday and after a six-hour operation found three caches containing 50 tons of arms and ammunitions including explosive devices, suicide vests and mines," the press release added.
One person has been arrested in this regard, it said. There were no casualties on the soldiers, it stressed.
This is the ever-biggest weapon cache discovery in the militancy-plagued Afghanistan over the past one year. Taliban militants have not comment yet.
