An earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale struck eastern parts of Indonesia on Thursday, the Meteorology and Geophysics Agency reported here.
The quake took place at 3:36 p.m. Jakarta time (0836 GMT) with the epicenter at 29 km southwest of Central Sulawesi and with a depth of 30 km, the agency said.
Indonesia sits on a vulnerable quake-hit zone so called "the Pacific Ring of Fire."
