The magnitude-6.2 earthquake that shook southwest Colombia Sunday has left at least five people injured, governor of the southwestern Nario province Eduardo Zuniga said Monday.

The tremor also destroyed at least 29 homes in the towns of Iscuande, El Charco, Mosquera and La Tola along Narino's Pacific coast, said rescue officials.

Zuniga said a regional disaster prevention commission will travel to the towns affected by the quake to carry out a damage evaluation study Monday.

The quake struck at 8:49 p.m. local time (0149 GMT Monday) and the epicenter was 32 km deep underground in El Chorro in Narino province bordering Ecuador, according to Colombia's National Geology and Mining Institute.

It was felt by inhabitants in the provinces of Narino, Cauca, Valle de Cauca, Quindio and some of the cities in Caldas.
