Officials in Mexico City are investigating a suspected serial killer eating parts of his victims, after police arrested an unknown horror-story writer who allegedly dismembered his girlfriend to eat her, authorities said Thursday.

Mexico City Attorney General's spokesman said Jose Luis Calva was arrested Monday near his living quarters at Mexico City's popular Guerrero neighborhood in the Historic Center when Calva tried to escape but was hit by a car.

In his first declaration before authorities, Calva said he admired British actor Anthony Hopkins' interpretations of a cannibal in two movies.

Agents from Mexico City Attorney General's Homicide Department found human-flesh remains in a plate at Calva's residence, the spokesman said.

The agents found many other human remains in Calva's living place, including a pan with human meat, human bones in a cereal box, and the dismembered body of Alejandra Galeana Garavito, a 31-year-old pharmacy clerk, in a closet and the refrigerator.

The police experts also reportedly found an unfinished novel titled "Cannibalistic instincts or 12 days" and two videos, in which Calva is one of the main characters talking about cannibalism and black magic.

The other video discusses existential and psychological problems that end in blood orgies and sex.
