Cuban leader Fidel Castro on Saturday met with visiting Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, Latin American News Agency Prensa Latina reported.
The two leaders reviewed the friendly relations between their two peoples and exchanged views on the Cuban-Venezuelan ties and the situation in Latin America in their four-hour talks, said the report.
Castro also shared with Chavez his recollections of the Argentina-born guerrilla leader Ernesto "Che" Guevara, who was one of his most important commanders during Cuba's 1959 revolution.
Guevara later gave up his senior position in Cuba to become a guerrilla fighter in Bolivia, and was killed there 40 years ago.
Chavez, who arrived in Havana early Saturday, will appear on his weekly radio and television show from the mausoleum where the remains of Guevara are entombed.
The ongoing visit by Chavez is meant to push for implementation of cooperative agreements between Cuba and his country in health, education, energy and trade, said the Cuban daily Granma. Source: Xinhua
