A magnitude-4.2 earthquake rumbled through the San Gabriel Mountains near Los Angeles on Tuesday, but no damage was reported.
The 1:53 a.m. quake, which was felt in some parts of Los Angeles, communities was centered about 3 miles (4.8 kilometers) north of Wrightwood, according to a preliminary reading from the U.S. Geological Survey.
Wrightwood, home to the Mountain High ski hill and a population of less than 4,000 people, is about 45 miles (72 kilometers) northeast of downtown Los Angeles.
A dispatcher for the San Bernardino County fire department said there were no immediate reports of damage. Quakes in the magnitude-4 range can cause moderate damage. Source: Xinhua
