A U.S. soldier died of a non- combat related illness in Germany after being evacuated from Iraq, the U.S. military said on Saturday.

The Task Force Lightning soldier based in Salahudin Province in north of Baghdad died on Wednesday after being evacuated to Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany, a military statement said.

Earlier in the day, the military said that one of its soldiers was killed and another injured on Thursday by a roadside bomb followed by small arms fire in southern Baghdad.

The latest deaths bring the number of U.S. soldiers who have been killed in Iraq to more than 3,830 since the U.S.-led invasion in 2003, according to media count based on Pentagon figures.
