Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva is to visit Cuban leader Fidel Castro in November, the federal government said Wednesday.
The trip is to form part of Lula's official regional tour which begins on Nov. 22 and also takes him to Haiti and the Dominican Republic.
The meeting will be Lula's first with Castro since the Cuban leader had major intestinal surgery in July 2006.
The last time the Brazilian and Cuban leaders met was at the beginning of Lula's first term as president (2003-2006), when he spent two days in Havana. In August this year, Cuba's Chancellor Felipe Perez Roque met with President Lula.
During next month's meeting, Castro and Lula face at least one thorny issue. Castro has recently joined Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez in attacking the international campaign to promote the use of bio-fuels, of which President Lula is one of the biggest supporters. Source:Xinhua
