The United States admitted Friday that the London meeting of the five permanent members of the U.N. Security Council and Germany reached no decision on the text of a new resolution about Iran.

"There was a discussion of what elements should go in that, but there was no resolution to the resolution question. There was no decision reached on text of a new resolution," State Department deputy spokesman Tom Casey said.

"They've agreed to meet again, probably in about two weeks, again in Europe. We'll let you know the location and timing for that as soon as possible," Casey said.

Officials from the five permanent members of the UN Security Council and Germany met in London Friday to discuss a third resolution on sanctions against Iran.

Pushed by the United States, two UN Security Council resolutions have been passed to punish Iran for its defiance on its nuclear issue.

Washington has accused Iran of trying to develop nuclear weapons under the cover of a civilian nuclear program. Iran has denied U.S. charges and insisted that its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes only.
