The Pentagon on Wednesday notified U.S. Congress of planned arms sale to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Kuwait, which is worth 10. 36 billion U.S. dollars in total.
The UAE deal includes Raytheon Patriot air defense systems worth up to 9 billion dollars, the Pentagon's Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) told the Congress in a notice.
The proposed sale package comprises nine Patriot fire units with 10 phased-array radars, 37 launching stations and 288 Patriot Advanced Capability-3 (PAC-3) missiles plus 216 Guidance Enhanced Missiles-T (GEM-T).
In a separate notice, the DSCA notified the Congress of the possible 1.36-billion-dollar upgrade of Kuwait's existing Patriot missile batteries.
The proposed sale package includes 80 PAC-3 missiles and GEM-T upgrade kits for 60 PAC-2 missiles, plus radar updates.
According to U.S. laws, once notified, the Congress has 30 days to review such deals before approving them or not.
