Crude prices retreated Friday on concerns that slower U.S. economic growth could dampen crude oil demand.

The Labor Department's report showed that employers added 94,000 jobs to their payrolls in November, lower than analysts expected, following October's 170,000 gain.

The Federal Reserve is believed to cut interest rates by a quarter to a half percent when it meets next week.

Light, sweet crude for January delivery fell 1.95 dollars to 88.28 dollars a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange after rising 2.74 dollars on Thursday.

In London, January Brent crude fell 1.54 dollars to 88.64 dollars a barrel on the ICE Futures exchange.
