Venezuela's National Electoral Council (CNE) on Friday released the final outcome of the recent national referendum in which the proposed constitutional reforms were voted out.
CNE President Tibisay Lucena told a press conference that the reforms had been vetoed with 50.65 percent against and 49.34 percent in favor on the first part of the measures, and 51.01 percent against and 48.99 percent in favor on the second.
The final outcome of the two-part vote was based on the 94 percent of the ballots counted.
Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez expressed acceptance after the CNE announced the initial results on Sunday, which said that 51.05 percent of Venezuelans voted against the measures and 48.9 percent voted in favor, with an abstention rate of 45 percent.
Chavez put forward 69 constitutional reforms to Sunday's referendum: 33 proposed by himself and 36 by the nation's legislature.
Venezuela's opposition accused Chavez of seeking power for life by putting the reforms to vote.
