Canadian Foreign Minister Maxime Bernier on Tuesday condemned two bomb attacks in Algeria in which at least 60 people were killed.
"Canada strongly condemns the cowardly attacks perpetrated in Algiers, which targeted innocent victims, including students, passersby and employees of the United Nations," the minister said in a statement.
"Canada will continue to support Algerian authorities in their efforts to combat terrorism and to restore peace in Algeria," the statement said.
The two car bombings took place in Algiers earlier Tuesday, killing 67 people and injuring more than 100. One bombing targeted the offices of the UN refugee agency and the other exploded near the Algerian Supreme Court.
The United Nations said Tuesday 10 UN staff members were killed in the bomb attacks and there were several others who were still unaccounted for.
