At least 11 people were killed and 20 were injured by gun fire and road accidents during Christmas, Guatemalan rescue services said on Tuesday, according to news reaching Mexico City.
Three died and seven were injured in the worst incident, when a truck crashed on a highway linking the western Guatemalan parts of Huehuetenango and Quetzaltenango, the Guatemala Fire Brigade said.
Two more died in another road crash in the southern part of Retalhuleu, when a driver fell asleep at the wheel.
Six people were shot dead in separate gun accidents, including a police officer.
The casualty figures were preliminary as the police are still counting other incidents across the nation. Source:Xinhua
