Police said on Tuesday that at least 35 people died on Bolivia's roads during the three days before Christmas, and about 100 were injured, according to news reaching Lima.
The most serious accident took place on Friday, when a bus plunged 40 meters into a ravine in the southwestern province of Oruro, killing 21 and injuring 55.
On Saturday, six people died and eight more were injured in a four-car pileup on the Northern Highway in Santa Cruz province.
On Sunday, four people died and 14 were injured when a truck, which had been adapted for passenger use, fell 30 meters off a cliff on the road linking Caranavi and La Paz.
Later, three people died and 19 were injured when a bus fell 30 meters off a cliff on the road linking Agua de Castilla and Potosiin the southwestern province of Potosi.
Also on Sunday, close to the town of Cotoca in La Paz province,a truck driver's assistant Jairo Chenevi, 19, was killed because he had been sleeping under the vehicle. The driver started his vehicle without checking on Chenevi after they took a break. Source:Xinhua
