The only survivor of a small plane crash was found Wednesday by Panamanian rescuers in a mountainous region in Panama.
The light aircraft with four people aboard went missing in western Panama on Sunday and was found crashed on Tuesday, Panama's National Civil Protection System Director Roberto Velasquez told local media.
Rescuers found three bodies and a survivor in a heavily-wooded area of Chiriqui province.
The dead were Panamanian pilot Edwin Lasso, U.S. entrepreneur Michael Klein and Klein's 13-year-old daughter Talia.
Officials said the survivor, 12-year-old American Francesca Lewis, suffered multiple injuries and hypothermia.
Due to the remote location of the crash site and the cold and wet weather, rescuers were hampered in their efforts to evacuate the girl and the three bodies from the crash site.
Aviation authorities said the cause of the crash is not yet known, while media reports said witnesses spotted the plane flying at a very low altitude in strong winds around noon Sunday. Source: Xinhua
