U.S. President George W. Bush is likely to visit Israel again later this year, the website of the Israeli daily Ha'aretz reported on Friday.

According to the report, Bush is expected to attend an international convention which Israeli President Shimon Peres will hold in May to mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the Jewish nation.

The report said Bush was invited a few months ago, but only recently has Washington confirmed his participation.

Ha'aretz added that numerous world leaders and leading scientists will be invited to attend the convention over the next few days.

Bush will visit Israel and the Palestinian territory next week as part of a regional tour that will cover seven states in nine days, during which the U.S. president is expected to press Israel and Palestinians to accelerate their recently revived peace talks.
