Colombia's general prosecutor Mario Iguaran affirmed on Friday that the DNA tests subjected to the Colombian boy Juan David Gomez and the family of kidnapped Clara Rojas have "highly specific" common features.
Iguaran said in a press conference that once the blood tests of Clara Rojas' mother and brother were matched it has been established the boy may very probably belong to the "Rojas" family.
He added that the tests are not completely reliable due to the absence of DAN samples from the boy's father and mother, but they give certainty because they come from the grandmother and uncle.
Iguaran said that the DNA blood samples will be sent to a European laboratory for further checking.
A source from the Colombian prosecution revealed that Colombian President Alvaro Uribe's government will request that some Spanish laboratory carry out the tests.
The boy named Juan David Gomez, allegedly Emmanuel according to Colombian government statements, is currently protected by Colombia's Social Well being Institute, where he was allegedly taken by a man with whom Colombia's Revolutionary Armed Forces (FARC) left him in custody.
On Monday, Uribe said the FARC does not have Emmanuel and suggested that Juan david Gomez is Emmanuel.
Clara Rojas' family accepted to undergo DNA tests to match them with the minor's. The samples were taken in Venezuela. Source: Xinhua
