The Colombian government has refused to allow Venezuelan specialists to carry out a DNA test on the boy considered by Colombian officials to be Emmanuel, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Nicolas Maduro said on Friday.

Maduro stated on local Venezuelan television that his Colombian counterpart Fernando Araujo informed him via phone the refusal to carry out DNA tests on the alleged son of Colombia's Revolutionary Armed Forces' (FARC) hostage Clara Rojas.

Maduro added that Araujo informed him that the refusal would be formally handed over to him in writing.

The Colombian decision is "very serious and sad" and "it makes evident that there is something strange in all that situation," Maduro said.

"We expected from Colombia the same conduct" Venezuela assumed while allowing Colombian experts to carry out those tests on Clara Rojas' family (her mother and brother) in Caracas.

Meanwhile, Clara Rojas' family asked the FARC to release her so they can see if her DNA tests match her alleged son, Juan David Gomez.

"My sister's liberation is the most important thing, let the world judge what they want to judge. For us it is Emmanuel until the contrary is proven," Clara Rojas' brother Ivan Rojas said.

Our family is willing to adopt Juan David Gomez, but the ideal thing would be that the DNA tests would be carried out on her mother.

Colombia's general prosecutor Mario Iguaran said the DNA tests subjected to minor Juan David Gomez and the family of kidnapped Clara Rojas have "highly specific" common features."

Iguaran said in a press conference once the blood tests of Clara Rojas' mother and brother were matched it has been established the minor may very probably belong to the "Rojas" family.

He added that the tests are not completely reliable due to the absence of DNA samples from the minor's father and mother, but they give certainty because they come from the grandmother and uncle.

Iguaran said the DNA blood samples will be sent to a European laboratory for further checking.

On Monday, Uribe said the FARC does not have Emmanuel and suggested that Juan David Gomez is Emmanuel.
