Mexican President Felipe Calderon appointed Wednesday Juan Camilo Mourino as new interior minister in place of Francisco Ramirez Acuna.
Mourino, 36, is the youngest interior minister in Mexican history.
During a ceremony, Calderon asked Mourino to enhance dialog with all political forces to push forward reforms in the country.
The change of the interior minister is the most important in Calderon's cabinet after he assumed the presidency 13 months ago. Mourino was the chief of the presidential office.
The former interior minister Acuna was criticized by the governing National Action Party (PAN) for failing to form alliances with the opposition, and failing to promote reforms in the fossil fuel sector.
Acuna was also criticized for the government's lack of efficiency to handle the explosive attacks against installations of Mexico's state oil enterprise, Pemex.
Mourino is reportedly the most influential and closest man to President Calderon. Born in Madrid, Spain, son of a Mexican mother, Mourino acquired the Mexican nationality when he was 18 years old. Source:Xinhua
