The Prime Minister of the Czech Republic will visit Ottawa next week to meet his Canadian counterpart Stephen Harper on Afghanistan.
Harper said in a statement Tuesday the two countries enjoy a strong bilateral relationship, including co-operation in the NATO-led mission in Afghanistan.
Harper is trying to persuade NATO allies to provide an extra 1,000 troops to bolster Canada's military operations in Kandahar. He warned of a withdrawal unless reinforcements are forthcoming.
Czech Prime Minister Mirek Topolanek will be accompanied by his defense minister for the visit to Ottawa on Feb. 28 and 29.
