U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will return to Israel and the Palestinian territories on Monday to promote Mideast peace process revived since November, the State Department said Wednesday.
"Next week, from March 3 to 7, Secretary Rice will be traveling to Israel and the Palestinian territories, as well as continuing on to attend the NATO ministerial" meeting in Brussels, State Department spokesman Tom Casey told reporters.
"In Israel and the Palestinian territories she will meet with officials from both sides and obviously this is part of the follow-up to the Annapolis process" for Middle East peace initiated by President George W. Bush, he said.
During the international meeting in Annapolis, Maryland, Israeli and Palestinian leaders formally launched their peace negotiations.
Bush visited Israel and the West Bank last month, the first of its kind since taking office. Source: Xinhua
