Some 1,000 experts from a total of 52 nations are expected to attend a world economic conference hosted by Cuba from Monday to Friday, organizers said on Sunday.

The conference, "International Economists Meeting on Globalization and Development," will cover a wide range of topics including the sub-prime mortgages crisis in the United States, regional integration in South America and the Doha round of world trade negotiations.

Economists, political scientists as well as sociologists will also discuss economic development in some of the largest developing nations, such as China, India and Brazil.

The event, sponsored by Cuba's National Economists Association, will witness around 300 presentations by experts from over 40 countries, including Canada's Robert Mundell, a 1999 Nobel Prize winner.
