A 16-year-old eastern Texas girl was arrested Sunday along with three other suspects on charge of shooting to death her mother and two brothers for breaking up her romance, police said as quoted by local media Monday.
The daughter's dad, Terry Caffey, who is the only survivor, was shot in the head and was able to crawl to a neighbor's house.
Terry Caffey was in critical condition Sunday at East Texas Medical Center in Tyler. His wife Penny, 37, and sons Mathew, 13, and Tyler, 8 had been shot and stabbed multiple times, according to the sheriff's department.
The 16-year-old girl, whose name was withheld because of her age, was arraigned Sunday on three counts of capital murder. Three others from ages 18 to 20, including the girl's suspected boyfriend, were arraigned on the same charges.
The killings, which police say were prompted when the daughter was forbidden to date one of the suspects, occurred in the Alba, Texas, home of Terry and Penny Caffey on Saturday morning.
The suspects allegedly set the house on fire after attacking the family.
According to AP, Carl Johnson, a family friend, said the family are musicians and that the boys played guitar and harmonica and the mother is a church piano player.
The killings shocked many in the small east Texas town, the town's mayor said Sunday.
