Ecuador's Army mobilized on Wednesday more reinforcements to its border with Colombia, where specialists on jungle warfare operate, Ecuador's Defense Ministry reported in a communique.

Some 160 Iwia soldiers, divided in four teams, increased the patrol in Ecuador's Sucumbios province, bordering Colombia's Putumayo department, with great guerrilla influence.

Ecuador broke diplomatic relations with Colombia after the Colombian Army bombed Ecuadorian territory to kill some 21 guerrilla troops of Colombia's Revolutionary Armed Forces (FARC), including its international spokesman "Raul Reyes."

"We are patrolling (the border) to avoid infiltration of regular or not regular (Colombian) forces," said the head of one of the Iwia military teams.

He added that "nothing new has been reported" in the recent operations since Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa ordered the mobilization of troops due to Colombia's transgression of their border.

Ecuador had 11,000 troops deployed in their Ecuadorian-Colombian border before this conflict which caused a break-off of diplomatic relations between the two South American countries.

Ecuador has concentrated 3,200 of its border troops at Sucumbios, site of the Colombian bombing against the FARC's base.

Meanwhile, the transit of Colombians to Ecuador has been reduced to the minimum at the San Miguel river passageway.
