Three children were killed in a house fire in Canada's central Manitoba province Monday afternoon, reports reaching here said Tuesday.

The fire happened on the Mathias Colomb Cree Nation in Pukatawagan, an isolated community in northern Manitoba which is only accessible by air.

Emergency crews found the house in flames when they were called to the scene. A man was pulled out by a person who first noticed the fire. He is still in hospital in serious condition, Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) said.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
