Heavy rain and floods have killed 73 people, made five missing and affected 95,000 families in Bolivia since November, Bolivia's Civil Defense Department said Friday.
Bad weather caused by "La Nina," or the extensive cooling of the central and eastern Pacific, has mainly caused damages in Chuquisaca province in southern Bolivia, according to reports from La Paz, Bolivia's administrative capital.
A total of 22 deaths occurred in Chuquisaca, followed by Santa Cruz, Cochabamba and La Paz with 14 deaths each.
January was the most fatal month, and the international community has sent emergency aid to Bolivia.
Germany, Spain, Argentina, Brazil, Japan, Chile, the United States and some other countries as well as organizations like the United Nations and the World Bank have provided aid for Bolivia.
Bolivia's National Weather Service reports "La Nina" phenomenon has started to decrease and will disappear in April.
