A SUV ran into crowd on Wednesday at an auto auction in Chicago, Illinois, leaving at least 12 people injured, a local TV reported.
According to a report by ABC-7 Channel, the accident happened at the Tri-State Auto Auction around noon in Crestwood, suburban Chicago, and all victims have been sent to local hospitals, including at least four in the critical condition.
"There was several people injured inside and outside with either broken legs, lacerations to the head, or arms that were broken," Crestwood Fire Department Kevin McAuliffe told reporters.
Witnesses said that the SUV entered a large garage area on one side and came out the other side after hitting the people and at least one other vehicle.
"It's just crashing and smashing into people and it hit another car and slammed into the wall and just took off and all over you see nothing but just bodies laying down," said a witness, Imad Shehab.
However, local authorities has not yet determined the reason why the driver lost control of the car since he was still in hospital for the medical treatment.
Police told reporters that they would have an accident reconstructionists on site and wait to talk to the driver to find out exactly what happened.
