Ecuador's Constituent Assembly is revising the Constitution, aiming to introduce a mechanism to allow presidential re-election for a second term, an Alianza Pais party official said Tuesday.
Four Constituent Assembly delegates from Alianza Pais proposed a five-year presidential term with allowance for a one-term re-election.
The four representatives also agreed to include an article in the future Constitution to allow the revocation of the mandate of the head of State after two and a half years in office.
If the revision proposal is approved, it will be debated by the Constituent Assembly's plenum.
